    Program Detail

    1. Class theme: Engineering Design Practice and Professional Skills

    2. Course duration: January 22 - February 8, 2024 (3 weeks)

    3. Sydney Social and Cultural Study Tour (optional): February 9-15, 2024 (7 days, 6 nights)

    *The exact departure and return time may be adjusted according to flights and other factors.

    4. Professional Seminar Course: Open topics, including engineering design process/teamwork/data analysis/data presentation/error correction, etc. The content is lively and interesting, and the seminar topics are as follows:《Mastering the engineering design process》、《How do engineers work together?》、《How do engineers analyse data?》、《How do engineers present data?》、《How do engineers write?》、《Engineers make mistakes, what can we learn from it?》and so on. 

    5. Engineering communication: You can have face-to-face communication with the head of the engineering faculty of The University of Western Australia, which will provide students with ideas for their future further studies and engineering career planning.

    6. Team Design Challenge: The collaborative project is proposed to be egg drop or mbot (programmed robot), in which participants can exercise their collaboration, leadership and problem-solving skills in the process of teamwork.

    7. Teamwork to design a project: Students complete projects in the hydraulics lab and in the classroom. The project design process involves data collection, data processing and interpretation, data report writing, presentation preparation, and external presentations.

    8. The rest of the activities: Include visits to engineering laboratories to familiarize with the various engineering disciplines and their practical activities offered by the Faculty of Engineering of The University of Western Australia, and to further understand the cutting-edge research of The University of Western Australia; set up guest lectures in various engineering disciplines to introduce students to the structure of the various disciplines, to enhance the students' understanding of the engineering postgraduate studies, and to provide them with ideas for graduate studies.

    9. Certificate of Completion: Members of the program team will be awarded a certificate of completion of the University of Western Australia program upon completion of the course. The certificate of completion of a short-term course at a world-renowned university can be used as one of the important background materials for applying to study at a prestigious overseas university.

    10. Accommodation: Homestay or local hotel apartments for the duration of the program. Homestay include breakfast and dinner on weekdays and three meals on weekends; hotel apartments do not include meals.

    11. Sydney Social and Cultural Study Tour:

    After the first 3 weeks of the professional course, students have the option to fly from Perth to Sydney for a 1-week social and cultural study tour of Sydney. The universities to be visited are the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales, which are ranked 19th in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2024. Students will have the opportunity to have face-to-face exchanges with professors from the School of Engineering of the University of Sydney, visit engineering laboratories; go on field trips to the Sydney Opera House, the Blue Mountains, Bondi Beach, St. Mary's Cathedral, etc., and hold cultural exchange activities such as BBQ with Australian characteristics. During the study tour, students will stay in Sydney hotels or apartments. The rich and colorful activities enable the students to know as much as possible about Australian higher education, human landscape, industry and economy, and enhance the value of the study visit.


    Application Requirements

    1. Full-time undergraduate or graduate students, aged 18 or above. A background in engineering is preferred.

    2. English Requirements: CET4-550 or higher, CET6-425 or higher, IELTS 5.5 or higher, or pass the program department's oral test. All applicants must pass the oral test, regardless of meeting the language score requirements.

    3. Obey the law and consciously maintain the image of the country and the reputation of the school.
